Summer day on the wide sandy beach in Lomma

What can you do with kids in Lomma?

Lomma with children: beach, boats, ice cream and castles

Johan Wessman / News Oresund · CC BY 2.0 · Wikimedia Commons

Short answer

Start at Lomma strand, a long sandy beach with shallow water, and pair it with an ice cream from Lomma Glassfabrik on Kajgatan in the harbour. On other days, paddle the calm river Höje å with self-service kayaks, cycle the flat coast to Habo Ljung, or explore Alnarpsparken and Borgeby slott. On a rainy afternoon, check the family shows at Lomma Folkets Hus.

Beach days

Lomma strand's shallow water along Lommabukten makes it the town's summer living room, with Lomma Beach House right by the sand. Just north, Habo Ljung mixes beach with alder swamp and pine forest.

The harbour

Lomma hamn is a forest of masts, with fishing huts and Kajgatan along the quay. Walk the piers, watch the boats come and go, and finish with ice cream or fish from the harbour huts.

On the water

Kayakomat rents self-service kayaks and SUP boards for Höje å and the bay, booked online. Havsgymmet runs SUP and kayak sessions on the calm river near Lomma kyrka. Check wind and weather before heading onto open water.

Parks, castles and history

Alnarpsparken is a big historic park with a celebrated tree collection. Borgeby slott by the river Lödde å pairs well with buns from Borgeby Stenugnsbageri. In south Bjärred, the old brickworks in Bjersundsparken is a quiet stop; its small museum opens on selected days.

By bike

The coast here is flat. Our short family loop runs from Lomma harbour along the beach to Habo Ljung and back, with a swim in the middle.

If it rains

Lomma Folkets Hus puts on family shows alongside music and stand-up. Our events page lists only dates we have confirmed with the organiser.
