Why go
Children get to walk into the Viking Age — houses, a gate in the palisade and a watchtower with a view over the bay.
What to see and do
Fotevikens Vikingaby in Höllviken is a reconstructed village based on archaeological evidence, telling the story of the late Viking Age and early Middle Ages. You walk in through a gate in the wooden palisade to houses, workshops and a watchtower looking out over the bay. It is at Museivägen 27, on the Höllviken side of Falsterbokanalen.
The canal itself is worth a stop: it links Öresund and the Baltic and was dug during the Second World War, after German mines threatened merchant shipping; the first vessel passed through on 1 August 1941. Today you can walk along it past the marina, with the sea at both ends.
Plan your day
Check the village's website for its season and events before you go. Combine with a swim at Kämpinge's broad white beach in Höllviken, a walk along the canal, and then Skanör and Falsterbo further out on the peninsula.

Getting there from Lomma
Falsterbonäset is south of Malmö, the closest of Skåne's big coastal day trips to Lomma. By car, follow the E6 south towards Trelleborg and take the Skanör–Falsterbo exit onto road 100. By bus, SkåneExpressen 15 from Malmö now ends at Skanör Haga, with regional line 300 continuing through Skanör and Falsterbo — plan the trip in Skånetrafiken's journey planner.
