Why go
It calls itself Sweden's largest spice range, and the shelves go well beyond spices: oils, vinegars, marmalades and crispbread, bought in from small producers — many of them local.
How to plan your visit
Borgeby Kryddgård is both a web shop and a real shop, and the shop is worth the detour. Coming by car, leave the E6 at exit 22 and drive towards Borgeby: it is the blue building at the northern entrance to the village. By bus, line 132 stops at Fyrhusvägen, about 450 metres away. Besides the spices and blends there are teas, Swedish honey, chutneys and marmalades, olive and rapeseed oils, olives and capers, crispbread and biscotti, and in the fridges sausages, cured meats from Spain and Italy and dessert cheeses. Barbecue fans will find restaurant-grade charcoal and sauces.
Opening hours are on the shop's own page.
Make a day of it
Exit 22 has become a small shopping stop of its own: Terracotta House & Garden is on the same road, and Borgeby Stenugnsbageri and Borgeby Castle are a few minutes away. Spices, a loaf of bread and a walk by the river Lödde å make a very good half day.

Who it suits
Home cooks, barbecue enthusiasts and anyone looking for a gift with local flavour. It is also a good rainy-day stop.
